Hummingbirds

I never see them with my own eyes.
How lucky I am to have your eyes to see the world through.
How very fortunate to be driven around a country
I knew nothing of just five years ago.
How truly grateful to love such an extraordinary set of people
To experience a love so tough and enduring
Laughter that defies distance and time,
To make seven silver stops on the gold coast,
To even imagine a life so full of joy and warmth,
To watch the sky turn pink for me, again
To call California home, again.
My hummingbirds almost love my tears away,
but what of my tears of joy?
How lucky I am to miss my hummingbirds so dearly.
